Rewilding + Healing our Mother

In the last week I’ve had this lovely thread of material weave through each day. From David Attenborough’s amazing “A Life on Our Planet” to the beautifully curated exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, some podcasts, and taking time to explore ancient woodland - I wanted to share some links below. In order to rewild the Earth and recognise the wisdom of nature, it reflects back to us - how can we rewild ourselves? In what ways can I tune into the natural wisdom of my body? Each thread of this tapestry to heal the planet always comes back to connection. We can really see this year how our wellbeing and the earth’s wellbeing are one and the same. In feeling deeply connected to each other, to our own inherent sacredness, and to the sacredness of life on our planet, our natural impulses shift into alignment with the greater harmony. These resources have really inspired me to make some gentle yet significant changes, so I wanted to share them with you below :)

We’ve been scheming about how to buy a woodland, to become guardians of a forest and help to nurture the earth. For now we are learning how to grow baby oaks. Did you know that an oak takes 300 years to grow, another 300 years to flourish as an adult, and then 300 more to degrade? You can find lots of sprouting acorns at the moment in the park. Soak them for 48 hours, then wrap them in a damp paper towel, fold into a ziplock bag, and place in the fridge. It will germinate between two days and eight weeks. Check every few days to make sure the towel stays wet. Once the taproot appears it has germinated. After it gets to 1.5cm long you can place toothpicks in the shell with the sprout going into a glass of water. It can live up to a year in a vase like that. Once it’s a strong little tree you can plant it outside :)

The best feeling is actually connecting, walking, exploring, grounding, and breathing in a forest bath. My favourite one right now is the Ashdown Forest on the border of Sussex and Kent. What are your favourite forests? Let me know in the comments x…
