Thank you so much for booking onto the Reiki First Degree Course! I’m excited to introduce you to the wonderful System of Reiki.
WHEN AND WHERE
The Course will run from 1:30 until 6:30 on the Saturday, and then from 11:30 until 6:30 on the Sunday. Please map your journey out before hand being mindful of planned TFL closures so you can arrive on time.
The Course will be taught on the Crystal Palace triangle, in the yoga studio on the top floor of the Crystal Palace Osteopathic Practice - 10 Westow Street, SE19 3AH (please note that there is also a street called 'Westow Hill' which isn't the right one). The nearest stations are Gipsy Hill (served by national rail from London Bridge or Victoria) or Crystal Palace (served by the London Overground and the rail). Both are about a 7-10 minute walk away. If you're driving, there is free parking in the area, your best bet are the residential streets.
On Saturday we will have tea breaks and I’ll have some snacks for us to share but please arrive having already had your lunch.
We will break for an hour for lunch on Sunday. There are plenty of lovely restaurants and cafes nearby.
We'll have refreshments and snacks in the course room along with plenty of tea throughout the days. Please do feel free to bring your own snacks or lunch if you prefer (although there isn't a fridge), you're welcome to eat in the course room or take lunch to the nearby parks - Crystal Palace Park is less than five minutes away.
WHAT TO BRING
It’s best to wear very comfortable clothes with layers as some people get very hot when they first experience the energy, while others can get quite cold. Big cozy socks are a plus. Bring a pen and notepad for any notes you want to take, but you will receive a 30-page Reiki 1 Manual with all of the information we will be covering over the weekend.
HOW TO PREPARE
You will receive four attunements over the two days which will begin the flow of Reiki energy. This process opens the energy channels in your body and can have profound mental, emotional, and spiritual effects. I encourage you to spend the week leading up the course bringing yourself into harmony and balance. Practice a little self-reflection and to come into alignment with your Higher Self as best you can. This can be done by journaling, meditating, and taking mindful walks in nature.
The attunements will jumpstart a detoxifying process so it’s best not to take too many in beforehand. Drink a little extra water for at least a few days leading up to the course, and try to cut down on caffeine, sugar, nicotine and alcohol - you will find your vibration rises easier for it.
We will have ample time meditating over the weekend, especially during the attunement process. If you're not used to sitting in silence, I really recommend trying to meditate a little before the Course. If at first you are overwhelmed with your own thoughts, don't worry - everyone has this at the start! The idea is to slowly become the observer of your thoughts, realising that you are not your thoughts but the space in which they happen. Meditation is one of the five main aspects of the System of Reiki so if you're able to attempt it before the Course than it will only help to deepen your Reiki Practice from the start :)
